Seven Steps of Success

ChKPZ employs unique personnel assessment and development system.

Pioneer departments of forge, wheel and die shops underwent the ‘7 Steps’ assessment, following which several workers were assigned a higher category with subsequent salary increase.

“Personnel is an enterprise’s main asset, as its success primarily lies within its employees, therefore professional and personal development is always a priority” – as said by Elena Peycheva, 7 Steps project coordinator – “The new system accounts for a vast range of work and professional development factors. We thoroughly evaluate desire and capabilities of a person to perform to the highest standard, to develop his or her skills, thus making each evaluation somewhat more than a simple formality. Each level assigned is backed up by real criteria complying with modern production requirements.”

At the core of the system is the necessity for each individual to have a clear and distinct plan of actions and studies required to boost own professional level, capacity and salary effective as of the first day of employment. The list of skills and duties of a comparable employee with a benchmark company within the industry. Thus having reached Level 7 a mechanical designer with ChKPZ will have possessed all and every competence as does his colleague employed with Scania.

“Requirement are advanced. In order to go from the first stage to the second, a forge shop worker has to fulfill the quota by no less than 85% as well as to have a zero defect rate” – says Mikhail Filatov, Director for Forge-and-Press Production - “Whereas when on the fourth stage, one has to be able to manage a team, to operate any piece of equipment as well as to be able to maintain it, to perform toolman duties. By implementing this system and carrying out large scale equipment upgrades we will be able to confidently compete with the world industry leaders equaling them in terms of quality and efficiency”.

Thorough implementation of the 7 Steps system is estimated to take up to two years. Its components for supplementary personnel are being developed even now.
